British stag jailed for public nudity in Bratislava released

Mallone had been sentenced to two months prison in accelerated proceedings for 'disordely conduct' by a Bratislava district court and British authorities along with his family pleaded for his release.

Accounts of the stag's incident varied widely - according to some reports Mallone swam naked in a fountain in front of the Slovak National Theatre. Reporter for BratislavaGuide.com saw a British man swim nude in a different fountain in front of the US Embassy and be arrested by police.

The daily Sme reported that Mr. Mallone appealed the verdict and was receiving consular assistance from the UK Embassy in Bratislava.

Bratislava became a popular stag party destination with the advent of low cost flights from London and other UK airports with SkyEurope and RyanAir. According to city officials vast majority of stag groups visit Bratislava without any major incident.

The Guardian newspaper reported the incident on June 7 with additional details. Reports also ran in the Independent and other UK and international papers, but most international sources ignored the public masturbation allegations widespread in the Slovak papers.
