Are you looking for new experience and great memories from Bratislava? You might already be familiar with the idea called Night of Museums, or also known as Long Night of Museums. Most of the big cities already have an event such as this one. It all started in Berlin in 1997, later being joined by Paris (2002), Buenos Aires (2004), and many more. In case you do, but also in case you do not, we would like to welcome you and also invite you to join this event happening in Bratislava on May 14, 2011. It will be starting at 10 a.m. with the last museums and galleries opened until 11.59 p.m. that day.
The way it works this year in Bratislava is very simple. You just have to choose one place to start your tour, pay a symbolic amount of |1.5| and receive a special ticket for forty different museums and galleries. Below is a list of those museums and galleries. Your quest through out the venues can also be rewarded with a prize. You can collect stamps at every place you visit and after receiving more than three stamps you can enter a drawing for fun prizes.
Participating Museums:
The Museum of Bratislava, Ancient Gerulata Roman Ruins in Rusovce, Devin Castle, Museum of Arthur Fleischmann, Museum of Pharmacy, Museum of Historical Interiors at Apponyi Palace, Museum of Clocks, Museum of Johan Nepomuk Hummel, Museum of Wine-Making at Apponyi Palace, Museum of Weaponry, Slovak National Museum, Archeology Museum, Museum for Children, Historical Museum at Bratislava Castle, Museum of Music, Museum of Croatian Culture in Slovakia, Museum of Carpathian German Culture, Museum of Hungarian Culture in Slovakia, Museum of Jewish Culture, Natural Sciences Museum, Exhibition Center Podhradie, Car-Forum Volkswagen Bratislava, Museum and Documents Center of the Slovak Railways and the Club Friends of Historical Rail Transportation, Museum of Jan Cikker, Museum of Commerce, Museum of Education and Pedagogy, Slovak Technical Museum – Museum of Transport, Museum of Water and Plumbing BVS
Participating Galleries:
European Center of Creative Art, Bratislava City Gallery, Gallery Cin Cin, Gallery
HotDock, Gallery ULUV, Satelit Slovak Design Center, Photoport, Slovak National Gallery, Slovak Art Union, SODA gallery, SOGA Auction Group, Central European House of Photography
Many accompanying events will only be in Slovak. Nonetheless, below are a few interesting events that will be in English, or for which language will not be important. Also, at nearly every gallery or museums, you can find employees that speak English. If that's not the case, you will surely be able to find a fellow visitor that will be able to help you communicate with the staff.
