Viva Musica Festival July 26-August 3, 2007
Bratislava, July 23, 2007 (BratislavaGuide.com) - Viva Musica, the third year of the modern festival of classical music, represents one of the highlights of the 2007 Bratislava Summer of Culture.
Viva Musica represents a break with a tradition of stuffiness and exclusivity in classical music presentations, offering the youthful and fashionable side of classical music.
The festival takes place in the Main Square and the Courtyard of the Old Town Hall. 2007 highlights include:
- Opera Concert by Slovak Diva Adriana Kucerova
- Israeli klezmer World Quintet,
- Devil's Violin, popular Slovak gypsy violin orchestra
- Kyle Eastwood, world-famous jazzman
- festival orchestra featuring 80 of the top Slovak classical musicians
July 26, 7 pm - Bratislava Side Story
The most beautiful passages from West Side Story. Festival orchestra ORFEO directed by Jonathan Schiffman (USA).
George Gershwin - Cuban ouverture, American in Paris
Leonard Bernstein: Candide ouverture, West Side Story
July 27, 7 pm - Kyle Eastwood Band (USA)
One of the world topp jazz bass guitar players with his band.
July 28, 7 pm - Devil's Violin (Slovakia)
Temperamental gypsy jazz orchestra led by Jan Berky-Mrenica Jr.
July 29, 5 pm - Fragile
Vocal Enssemble - a fascinating performance solely with voices.
July 30, 7 pm - Mozart's Tango
Quartet Razumovsky (Austria), Piazzola Project (Slovakia)
July 31, 7 pm - Ladies' Night (France)
Marina Chiche (France) - violin, Dana Ciocarlie (Romania) - piano
August 1, 7 pm - Lisztiade
Rising star Ladislav Fantzowitz (Slovakia) - piano performing carefully selected works by Franz Liszt.
