Bratislava, February 27, 2009 (BratislavaGuide.com) - Tatel Velasquez, a blogger at
Tatel, a Colombia native, and Canary Islands-born fashion photographer
"One of the things about doing this is that you get to interact with locals," Tatel said. She said taking pictures let her interact with special people: "Most people who dress special are usually creative people - fashion is a way of expressing themselves.
"Trendy Crew tries to cover natural styles - people who look stylish without too much effort. "I look for pictures of people who don't follow trends but create them," says Tatel.
Tatel took photos of five people in Bratislava (
She and Tomy were impressed by how stylish many people in Bratislava appeared in their winter coats. "In Barcelona in the winter on the few cold days people wrap up in these huge shapeless coats," Tomy said. "Here, there is an art of wearing a coat," he added. "Even older women dress really well with impressive fur coats and fur hats."
The styles in general, were however not that different from what TrendyCrew saw in other cities. People in Bratislava were also very approachable and enjoyed having their photos taken.
Trendy Crew posts photos along with information on where the "model" obtained their clothes. In most cities people were sensitive about admitting a designer item was a fake. But Tatel said it was mostly obvious - especially if "someone in H&M jeans wears a bag that would cost 3,000 euros."
The experience in Bratislava was different. One of the girls who Tatel shot in Bratislava had a Chanel bag that was obviously fake. "But she was so nice about it: I asked about the bag. She was like oh, it's fake, I bought it in Thailand."
