Ballet : Giselle

The first premiere of the new season is one of the most beautiful Romantic ballets – Giselle. The new version is based on study of original literary, musical and choreographic material with the aim to bridge the decades of performance tradition. The choreography was created by Ondrej Šoth, Juraj Kubánka, Natália Horeèná, Mikhailo Novikov and Liudmila Zhytnikova
The original version of Giselle was inspired by the German poet Heinrich Heine´s story of “the Wilis, affianced maidens who have died before their wedding day... Arrayed in their wedding garments, wreaths of flowers and fluttering ribbons on their heads, sparkling rings on their fingers the Wilis dance in the moonlight, just like elves. Their faces, though white as snow, are young and beautiful; their laughter is horribly gay, their friendliness evil. They beckon with such secret desire, such promise - they are irresistible”.
Perfomance length: 2 hrs 30 mins one intermission. Tickets cost € 8-€ 18.
