SkyEurope, Ryanair to open new London-Poprad routes from December 2005
UPDATED - Bratislava, August 26, 2005 (BratislavaGuide.com) - Slovak low cost air carrier SkyEurope announced plans to launch a new route from London, Stansted to Poprad, the main city in the region of Slovakia's scenic High Tatras (Vysoke Tatry) mountains.
Separately, the Presov self-governing region announced the low cost airline Ryanair was in talks to launch a London-Poprad route in January or February 2006.
The SkyEurope flights will operate from December 3, 2005 twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Details of Ryanair flights were not yet available.
The High Tatras thus gain the opportunity to become a new hotspot for weekend hiking breaks, short skiing breaks and other shorter trips for the UK market.
The SkyEurope London Stansted-Poprad flight NE161 operated on a Boeing 735 aircraft will depart Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9 a.m. and arrive at 12:30. The return flight NE160 from Poprad to London Stansted wll depart 1:10 p.m. and arrive at 2:45 p.m.
