Pohoda Festival Trencin, 7th July - 9th July 2011
img1]The biggest festival in Slovakia is returning for the 15th time. As always, the venue is the Trencin Airport, just south of the beautiful city of Trencin. It is easily accessible by car just of the main highway D1 from Bratislava or Kosice, E50 from the Czech Republic, or by train approximately 130km Northeast from Bratislava. There will be a shuttle service from the city-centre to the airport for a minimum charge. Hitchhiking is a great way of arriving, since many cars will be heading direction Pohoda.
The specific of this festival, the reason why it is so unique and peculiar in Slovakia, or even in central Europe, is that there are not as many popular headliners as at the other festivals, but rather it grabs attention through the accompanying events taking place. Whether it is the bungee jumping, Sunday morning preaching or the "Greeting the Sun" event, or any other, you will never feel alone.
After the tragic 2009 accident, when a major storm caused a tent to collapse, resulting in the death of 2 people and many more injuries, security to protect visitors from such accidents has been further tightened. Considering that the safety rules were being enforced stricter than anywhere else even before, the ones being undertaken now are among the toughest standards in Europe. There is a memorial dedicated to this tragic event on the spot of the incident.
The headliners this year will definitely be Moby, Pulp, MIA, Portishead and MANY others. The tickets are in presale € 69 or € 89 at the venue, in addition you can also purchase a one day ticket for Saturday only for in presale € 59 or € 89 at the venue. Parking is available in secured parking lots for € 7 in presale or € 20 at the spot.
