Old Market Building (Stara trznica)
This former market building, with unique architecture has recently been used as a concert hall and as an exhibition center. There are plans to redecorate this wonderful building and use it as a market hall again.
It is located in the historical center of Bratislava, in the pedestrian zone and only open for special events.
The Old Market Hall (Stara Trznica) was the first covered market in Bratislava. Built in 1910 as a market hall, the building served this purpose until the 1960s. During the communist era it was used as a film studio. It was built on the site of a 15th century bastion, which was a part of the local fortifications. The remnants of the walls of the 11th-century St Jacob's Chapel are visible under a glass canopy in front of the Old Market Hall.
