Witnesses is a croatian movie directed by Vinko Bresan, which focuses on the issue of ethnic intolerance. Three croatian soldiers are preparing to blow out the house of serbian boss of the local mob. While preparing to attach bombs, boss opens the front door and is shot by the shocked soldiers. A witness - children is taken as a hostage. Police investigation starts next day finding no witnesses. The movie is shot from three perspectives. We are seeing the movie through the eyes of soldiers first, second part is perspective of the police investigator and the last is that of the young woman journalist, who also tries to investigate the murder. Situations and views intersect, more and more information come, every other view brings new evidence and overview of the relations and lives of the whole community. The film resembles German movie lola Rennt, although now we see the same reality through the eyes of the the three different persons. The movie is to be screened again on December 9, 2006.
Farewell Falkenberg is a movie by swedish director Jesper Ganslandt. Unbelievably nostalgic movie shows five friends, whose youth will end soon. Young friends feel that they are not prepared to jump in to the adulthood, so they just relax and enjoy the summer. David plays the old films from their childhood, Holger likes the slow life in the small town. Jesper feels abandoned, Jörgen has big plans to start business, although he has no money. John eats lot of bacon, because he thinks the fat makes him happy. Farewell Falkenberg rides the wave of the constant melancholy highlighted by the fabulous downtempo soundtrack, shots of pastel coloured 8mm movies and occasional use of magic mushrooms and the alcohol. There is something big in the air, that will make the end to youth of the young friends. Farewell Falkenberg is nominated to the Oscar award as the best foreign movie.
