Indoor swimming pools and saunas in Bratislava
The capital of Slovakia, Bratislava offers its guests and citizens number of options for spare time activities. It is great idea to spend leisure time in Bratislava by sightseeing, attending cultural events, or going out to Bratislava bars, clubs and restaurants, but after a busy day, you might find an option of going out and rest in the swimming pool an appealing alternative.
Bratislava used to have several very popular indoor swimming pools in the past, but due to financial or ownership problems, two of the three historically most popular pools are closed - Swimming pool Grossling on Kupelna and Swimming Pool Central near Trnavske Myto. The remaining, currently the biggest and the most popular swimming pool is Swimming pool Pasienky near the Polus City Center on Vajnorska.
Indoor Swimming pool Pasienky (reopens after reconstruction on November 15, 2004)
Address: Junacka 4, 831 04 Bratislava, near the shopping mall Polus City Center.
There are two pools inside the Pasienky Swimming Center:
1. The longer adult swimming pool is 50 meters long and 18 meters wide with water height from 130 to 350 centimeters.
2. The shorter children's pool is 25 meters long and 8 meters wide with water height from 90 to 130 centimeters and warmer, 27 degrees Celsius water. The pool is intended to be used by kids.
The 50 meter Adult Swimming Pool is open to public during weekdays:
Mondays: 19:30 – 22:00
Tuesdays – Fridays: 6:00 – 7:30 and 19:30 – 22:00
During weekends, both pools are open to public from 10.30 to 20.00.
On Weekdays some restrictions may apply to public use as select swimming lines may be reserved for local teams' training use. Swimming competitions may take place in the longer pool also during weekends. You can check availability in advance at one of these telephone numbers 02/4425 6769, 02/4920 9663, 02/4924 9363.
Entrance fees SKK 65 (EUR 2.14) for adults and SKK 35 (EUR 1.15) for a children under the age of 10. For a deposit of SKK 50 (EUR 1.65) you get a clothes locker for your use.
If you are traveling by car, you can leave your car right at the parking lot in front of the swimming pool or in the shopping centre's underground parking lot, both free of charge. The pools are also conveniently accessible by public transport. You can get there by trams 2, 4, 6 heading out of the city center towards "Zlate piesky". You should get off at "Polus City Center" tram stop. The buses number 198 and 75 stops near Pasienky either. The closest bus stop is "Nova Doba".
Apart from public swimming pool Pasienky, there are more swimming pools that are located usually within hotels or school buildings. During certain hours, they are opened also for public.
Hotel Baronka
The dimensions of indoor swimming pool are 16 meters, 9 meters wide and 1.4 meters deep. There is also sauna and fitness center next to the swimming pool. The entrance fee for 2 hours is SKK 140 (EUR 4.61). 45 minutes in sauna costs additional SKK 140 (EUR 4.61). The sauna has to be booked at least 30 minutes in advance.

Weekends: 7.00 – 13.00 and 14.00 – 21.00

Hotel Nivy
Another hotel, that has indoor swimming pool is Hotel Nivy. Its dimensions are 25 meters length, 10 meters width, minimal depth 0,8 meters and maximal depth 1,8 meters. The water temperature is 28 degrees of Celsius. It is opened for public during:
Weekdays: 16:00 - 20:00
Weekends: 14:00 - 18:00

Hotel Danube
Also one of Bratislava's most luxurious hotels, Hotel Danube offers its fitness center, swimming pool, sauna and Jacuzzi to public users.
The center is opened daily from:
Weekdays: 7:00 – 22.00
Weekends: 9:00 – 21:00
Time unlimited admission fee for swimming pool, sauna and Jacuzzi is SKK 350 (EUR 11.53) per person per day. Fitness center admission is SKK 150 (EUR 4.94). All the services together cost SKK 400 (EUR 13.18). The price includes also a towel, bathrobe and locker key.

Iuventa Bratislava
Iuventa - an institution for the leisure time of children, youth and adults - is the organisation directed by the Ministry of Education of the Slovak republic.
It has its own indoor swimming pool that is opened to public.
Tuesdays – Fridays: opens at 7:00, closing hour varies during the week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 22:00, Wednesdays at 15:00)
Saturday – Sunday: opens at 8:00 till 19:00.
There are various breaks and limitations during the days, so you'd better check in advance if they are opened at the telephone number: 02/6025 365.
There are many more swimming pools and saunas inside Bratislava hotels, but only hotels guests are usually allowed to use them. Many other swimming pools are located inside schools, but they technical condition is usually worse than hotels swimming pools and information about them are very limited.
Bratislava saunas
Saunas in Bratislava are usually part of indoor swimming pools. Saunas in swimming pool Pasienky and in hotels Baronka and Danube are opened to public. Some other Bratislava hotels also have sauna facilities, but usually offered only to hotel guests.
