Bratislava Living the Hockey Dream - IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship 2011
For over two weeks in May 2011 Slovakia turns into Hockey Republic with Bratislava as the world's hockey capital. Lots of Slovak fans and fans from the other seven countries playing in the Groups A and D of the World Ice Hockey Championship have descended on Bratislava to celebrate.
The city is alive with the hardcore supporters of Russia, Germany, Finland, Slovenia, Latvia, Czech Republic and Denmark (the other eight teams are presently playing in Kosice).
Games take place at the Orange Arena (normally operating as the Ondrej Nepela Stadium), rebuilt over the past year. Fans congregate in several official fan zones, national fan points and numerous unofficial fan zones at bars, pubs and clubs all around the city.
Tickets for matches are still on sale (from the official seller Ticketportal but we also offer hockey tickets at BratislavaGuide.com).
