Fast-Food Tips and Late-Night Munching

In addition to the omnipresent McDonalds (Hviezdoslavovo Square, SNP Square, Obchodna), Bratislava offers a growing selection of local fast-food options. In the winter-time, the Christmas Market in the Main Square is hard to beat for selection but here are a few tips for fast-food joints open throughout the year:

Bagel & Coffee Story - Stylish bagel and coffee "factory" with several locations in the Old Town.

Bageterias - There are a number of these small shops serving fresh baguette sandwiches (a popular choice is the one in the pedestrian zone on the corner of Zelena and Venturska).

Kebap - Up until a few years ago good kebap was nowhere to be found but due to the Kebap's popularity that is fortunately changing. A late-night kebap place just above Michael's Gate is a good way to get some late food, Happy Kebap in SNP Square is also a good choice. Excellent kebap is also available at the Mlynska Dolina student dormitories.

Manderlak - A late-night fast-food joint in a building that used to be Braislava's tallest, the Manderlak (at the foot of the SNP Square) serves fried meats, hot dogs, and chicken breast sandwiches.

Richmeneria - These stalls are located throughout the city and serve a Slovak specialty, the "Richman". The Richman is a sandwich that consists of ham, mayonnaise, cheese, and cabbage or other fillings of your choice on a simple bun. Richmenerias are cheap and serve late into the night. Popular Richmenerias in the centre are on Kamenne Square in front of the Tesco and Marianska near the Hotel Kyjev.

The bagels are great and pretty cheap. The bacon and egg one is a bit messy though but very tasty. There are quite a few bagel shops. Don't miss them. Most if not all of the staff speak english.

I've just come back from Bratislava this weekend.
I consider this to be a nice place but only for 2 nights at the most.
There is not much to do as the main square can be toured within 3 hours and the rest of the time you are just going around and around.
The food and especially the beer is very cheap. There is an Indian cafe called Govindas, run by hare krisna followers where a plate full is really really cheap and you can go back for more at no extra charge and very friendly too.
Nice place but would not go back as its too small and quite for me.
and if you are looking for a cheap lapdance club try the one within the Bratislava city hotel(where we stayed). Its within the hotel and not too expensive and the girls were really sexy.
