Bratislava Tops List of Transformed Cities
Bratislava, April 24, 2006 (BratislavaGuide.com) - The Belfast Telegraph newspaper put Bratislava at the top of its must-see list of Top eight transformed cities in an April 24, 2006 feature by David Nurden.
"Long cast under the spell of totalitarianism, Bratislava, the charming capital of Slovakia, has rediscovered its Mittel Europa style and culture of late. The city is undergoing a huge restoration project," Nurden wrote.
He pointed out as the best sites the UFO-like structure at the top of the New Bridge housing a restaurant and bar above the river Danube, recommending the "lovely boutique Hotel Marrol's" as the place to stay.
The other places on the list belong to the Basque city of Bilbao, Patras in Greece, South Africa's Johannesburg, Beirut in Lebanon, as well as Shanghai, Moscow and Belfast.
