Orient Express Bicycle Tour passing via Bratislava
Orient Express is the name of international bicycle journey from Paris to Istanbul. The event is organized by the company that brought Tour d'Afrigue, the world's longest bicycle race.
In 1883 Orient Express train first made its way from Paris to Istanbul. The train revolutionized transportation and brought adventure and delight to tens of thousands.
Orient Express Bicycle Journey will take eight weeks capturing the original Orient Express train route. The tour combines cycling with cultural activities and degustation of traditional specialties from local cuisines.
The Orient Express Bicycle Tour will start on Sunday, July 31st, 2005 at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris and head east through Germany, Austria, Bratislava (Slovakia), Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria, finally ariving on September 24th to Istanbul, Turkey.
The bicycle journey is split into 41 biking days and 15 days of rest. Participants could enjoy vineyards of Alsace, a Mozart concert in Vienna, a luxury spa in Budapest, a 10th century castle in Bratislava, a National Art Museum in Bucharest, the glorious beaches of the Black Sea, and plenty of culinary delicacies from the best restaurants in Europe.
The best thing on Orient Express Biking Tour is that participants are free to join and leave at any point of the route.
While in Bratislava, do not miss Bratislava Castle and the oldest public park in Europe - Sad Janka Krala. You can also rent a bike in Bratislava for a few days.
