Travel from Bratislava to Kosice
The eastern Slovak metropolis of Kosice has a beautiful cite centre, but is off the tourist maps. Find a selection of Kosice hotels here.
Car
Two routes are generally used to travel between the two cities - the so-called Southern Route (via Banska Bystrica and Roznava) and Northern Route (via Zilina). A somewhat longer but smoother and more comfortable route can also be taken via Hungary. The road conditions vary, with the journay taking around five hours and some 400 km.
Train
The best connections are provided by InterCity trains, which take under five hours. The schedule can be found at www.cp.sk. Tickets can now be purchased on-line at www.slovakrail.sk.
Bus
There is a limited number of buses between Bratislava and Kosice. These take a long time and are far less popular than taking a train.
Air
The route is serviced by SkyEurope. The flight leaves from the Bratislava Milan Rastislav Stefanik Airport and takes about 45 minutes. Direct flights to Kosice from Prague are available from Czech Airlines.
