Bratislava Castle to close for four-year reconstruction from October 2007
Bratislava's main landmark and important tourist attraction, the Bratislava Castle, is scheduled to close to the public for four to five years from October 2007 to undergo massive restoration work.
The works will aim to address construction problems, eliminate moisture and fix crumbling walls, replace old plumbing, wiring and ventilation.
An international tender will take place before September to select a supplier.
The castle houses a number of collections of the Slovak National Museum, which will be closed to the public for an estimated four or five years during the works.

Judging by past efforts at reconstruction, it would be good if the Slovak authorties seek the assistance of stone mason experts, who are used to historical buildings.Stuffing joints full of 10 mm concrete and cement is counter productive.
