Bratislava 3G Guide for iPhone
Thanks to the new Bratislava 3G application for iphone the City of Bratislava can be held in the palm of your hand.
The new application recently released by the UK web portal HeartofEurope.co.uk is a fairly comprehensive and encompassing guide to some of Bratislava's most well known restaurants, hotels and activities.
Available on the Apple iPod 3G as well as various other touch screen phones such as the Google Android, the Bratislava 3G application really makes the frustrating days of getting lost, choosing the wrong restaurant, and hunting down the right accommodation that much less consequential.
An interactive map allowing the GPS functions to highlight routes, points of interest, restaurants and hotels also make it easier to navigate the winding streets of the city and ensure an easy return to your hotel at the days end.
Basic Bratislava news and weather can also be accessed and a blog of Bratislava exists within the application as well, though the information may not be updated on a regular basis.
Keep in mind though that everything is not included and if you know the city you may find your favorite local hangout lacking inclusion. In fact, a nightlife section is missing altogether, though it is upcoming, and if your in the mood for some local fast food options or hole in the wall eateries you may be disappointed as the majority of the content is centered on conglomerates.
That being said, it is a great way for first time visitors to Bratislava to easily maneuver the city and all the daunting aspects that a new place has to offer. Taxis, shows, useful tips, city history, it is all there, and more importantly, it's at your fingertips.
There are two other applications for Slovakia that are currently in the development stages, which may be extremely helpful for the tourist and Bratislava native alike. The Tatry 3G app is scheduled for release by the end of May and will be a general guide to the Tatras Mountains. Hiking trails, resorts, spas, skiing in the winter, as well as all the restaurants and points of interest should be included, making a day trip or even a more lengthy jaunt to the country a slightly more spontaneous event for those that hold touch screen technology.
Additionally an application for the greater Slovakia is in its development stages and is scheduled for release in early June. This application will mainly focus on the other major cities in Slovakia, as well as castles and other points of interest. Though not a lot of info on this application can be found now it can be assumed that the Slovakia 3G app will also contain all the familiar and useful categories such as accommodation, restaurants, and GPS navigation for both the driver and the pedestrian.
