Bluegrass Fest 2006
Bluegrass Fest 2006 will be held for the first time in Bratislava, Slovakia featuring acoustic music and introducing other musical influences. The first year of the Bluegrass Festival 2006 is scheduled to start on May 13, 2006 at 2 pm in Zrkadlovy Haj cultural centre in Bratislava - Petrzalka.
Bluegrass music style is well known for use of the musical instruments such as banjo, mandolin, violin, guitar as well as polyphonic vocals, solo vocals and instrumental parts played by bluegrass musicians. Lot of bluegrass projects play progressive bluegrass nowadays that is characterized by use of modern instruments and introducing various music styles into the traditional bluegrass. Well-known progressive bluegrass bands include Newgrass Revival, The Flecktones, Nickel Creek, Alison Krauss or Union Station.
Bluegrass Fest 2006 will include bands from over the Europe: Meantime, Union Citygrass, BG Time, Stano Paluch's Grey Scale (all from Slovakia), Monogram, Drive, Køeni (Czech Republic), Nugget (Austria) and Water Flow (Holland).
