Theater Arena
A beautiful theater in a beautiful building, right next to the river. Enjoy great plays by the best Slovak artists.
Arena is one of the oldest theaters in Bratislava open to the public. It opened in 1828, originally as a summer outdoor stage. The current building, built in the same space as the former theater, opened in 1898.
The theatre mostly shows the work of Slovak writers, foreign greats like Shakespeare are not uncommon.
Arena also serves as the venue for the monthly T-Mobile Jazz Concert, for which admission costs € 4.
It is near the Stary Most (Old Bridge), Sad Janka Krala (Jank Kral Park), and Aupark Shopping Centre.
The easiest and most enjoyable way to get to Arena is to walk from Safarikovo Namestie (Safarikovo Square) over the Stary Most (the Old bridge), which sometimes closes to pedestrians. The other option is to get bus 82 from under Novy Most (New Bridge).
The box office is open every day from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., on the days of performances the box office stays open until 7 p.m.
Arena has a nice English website, with English and Slovak descriptions of every show.
